Are you going to have a personal photo shoot? You need to prepare well!
Try to follow as many photographer’s recommendations as possible for a successful result.

How to prepare for a photoshoot

1. Wash your hair in the morning or the day before the shoot. If the dark roots are visible, it is better to do a fresh coloring.

2. Nails should be neat, preferably without nail polish (only transparent is allowed). Any colored variant will be highly distracting if it doesn’t match the clothing/background.

3. Find out the studio address in advance, check on the map how to get there (if you don’t plan to take a taxi), so you don’t get lost and and be on time. Plan your time well — it’s better to arrive a bit earlier.

4. Remember that you need a clean pair of shoes to shoot in a studio.

5. Just in case, take your minimum set of cosmetics, comb, hairpins.

6. Prepare a playlist of your favorite music on a smartphone that will create a good working mood.

7. Don’t even think about going to a cosmetologist or using a self-tanner a few days before the shoot. This needs to be done in advance (although I don’t recommend self-tanning at all). The same applies to going to the gym and dieting — there will be no visible changes in a week, you will simply exhaust yourself and waste your energy.

8. Be sure to get enough sleep before shooting. Even if it is planned for the evening, you should be in tonus — makeup will not hide the bags under the eyes, and sleepy tired look will not be corrected by any retouching. Yes, and poor posing will greatly reduce the productivity of the shoot.

9. If you are planning a long shoot (more than 2 hours), don’t forget to eat before it starts, or rather before you meet the makeup artist. Bring a yogurt and water for the shoot. Though, decent studios do have water:)

10. Don’t plan any important events and meetings on the day of the shoot! At the very least, leave 1,5-2 hours (pure time, not including the road) between them. Otherwise, you’ll definitely be late somewhere and it will affect the result.

11. Practice posing in front of a mirror by watching video tutorials, at least 15 minutes a day for a week. Believe me, it will make the shooting process much easier.

12. Discuss your clothing with the photographer in advance, choose suitable options. If you are in doubt about whether to bring some accessories or not, bring them just in case. Keep in mind that colorful patterns are too distracting, drawing attention to themselves. Therefore, it is better to choose plain monotone clothes that highlight your figure.

13. Clothes for shooting should not be wrinkled! All the wrinkles will be very noticeable in the photo. Also it should not be dusty. If you have a black velvet jacket, dress or shirt, be sure to clean it with a special sticky dust roller just before the shoot.

14. If it’s a nude shoot, do not wear squeezy underwear or come to the studio in advance and change into a robe for half an hour to make the traces of clothing disappear.

15. Do not bring accompanying persons to the shoot — only those who are directly involved in the process should be on set. The rest will only interfere and distract, even just sitting in a corner, so the photographer has the right to put them out of the studio.

Good luck with your photos!
